David Fortin Struck, Killed By Train

Authorities have identified the man who was killed by an NJ Transit train in Monmouth County.

An NJ Transit spokesperson said David Fortin, 67, of Eatontown, died after being struck by the train at around 4:55 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25. Fortin was hit near the railroad crossing at White Road in Little Silver.

None of the roughly 110 passengers or crew members on the train were injured, the spokesperson said.

The North Jersey Coast Line train had left the Long Branch station at 4:46 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at New York Penn Station at 6:25 p.m. Service was suspended between Long Branch and Red Bank until around 7:30 p.m.

NJ Transit Police are investigating the crash.
